In addition to the outright victory, the Maserati driven by Mueller/Ramos came home on the podium in 3rd, rounding out the day after Bertolini's pole position.
It was an authoritative victory, and the winners were never really challenged by Wendlinger/Sharp's Saleen. Mueller/Ramos incurred a penalty which set them back to fourth place, and they seemed doomed to be off the podium, but a hard-charging Mueller not only regained 3rd but threatened for second when he was able to shorten a gap of almost 30 seconds from Hezemans and Kumpen's Corvette, which won second place.
Thanks to this win, the current FIA GT1 champions also regain the leadership in the drivers' championship.
